Around the KRUMMENWEG spreads out the large recreation area Ratinger Forest. Natural mixed forest, engulfed brooks and fixed forest cart roads are awaiting you – just explore and enjoy them by a hiking tour. Das Haus heißt "Landhotel" und man vermutet ein ruhiges, romantisches Haus auf dem Lande. Es liegt tatsächlich auf dem Land, hat einen großen, wunderschönen Biergarten und Spaziergänge sind direkt in einen herrlichen Wald hinein möglich. Hört sich das nicht nach Ferienhotel an?
Aber: das Haus liegt nicht nur an einem verkehrsreichen Rondell, sondern hat zudem intensiven Fluglärm, der um 6 Uhr beginnt. Ich war mit einer Gruppe von nicht mehr ganz jungen Freunden dort. Die von uns, die zu den 2 Straßenseiten zu schlafen versuchten, waren wütend, brachen teilweise den Aufenthalt ab. Darf ein Hotel in solcher Lage sich "Landhotel" nennen? Ich selbst hatte mir, Böses ahnend, sofort ein "ruhiges", größeres, eines der "Superior- Zimmer" geben lassen. Diese liegen an der Hausrückseite, mit Blick auf den Biergarten und einen kleinen romantischen Teich, alle in der höchsten, der 3. Etage. (Der Lift geht leider nur bis zur 2. Etage!)
Hier war der Lärm bei weit offenem Fenster keinesfalls störend. Die Einrichtung ist nicht ländlich romantisch, sondern uninteressant sachlich wie in vielen der neuen Hotels, die anscheinend für Seminare und viel reisende Vertreter geschaffen wurden. Positives: das Hotel ist sehr sauber, hat einen großen Parkplatz, gibt ein köstliches Frühstück und der Hallenservice geht bis weit in die Nacht.
Die Lage an der Autobahn, zwischen Essen und Düsseldorf, ist ebenfalls sehr interessant. Ein Bus geht direkt vom Hotel los.
Leitung und Rezeption waren freundlich, aber wirken unerfahren und man wünschte mehr aufmerksames Entgegenkommen.
