TripTake Traveler Reviews
Bluebay Palace hotel, 100% recommend you to stay there. The hotel was fantastic, the food was excellent and the staff were just the best. Great for familes. We were travelling with myself, husband, 6 year old daughter, parents and Mother in Law. All had a great time. Pool side resturant is excellent and their coffee just the best. There is a kids club run by a lovely lady called Heidi it is open from 10am - 1pm and then 2pm - 5pm.There is an outside play area, games, videos, pens, paper, paints, craft workshops, (t-shirt painting costs 6 euros), it is not supervised, they are inside when painting, but the children are free to play outside and in the pool, you do need to be around especially the pool area to keep an eye on them. Maybe there are more staff during school holiday times. The entertainment kids club is in the evening as well at 8pm, there is a kids disco, bingo and lots of shows. When staying there with kids your rooms will be on the lower floor. We stayed in room 1003 - I would really recommend that if you do not like noise request not to stay in rooms 1001 - 1005 as you are over the bar/karaoke/disco bar which goes onto midnight and if you are planning to go to bed with children before this is is loud. I did complain and they credited my account with 50 euros. Especially if you want to have the patio doors open, it is to loud to do so until after the music has stopped. The breakfast is fantastic with so much to choose from, there is even champagne served free at breakfast. The pool area opens are 9am, they are cleaning the pool before this time and you can not access it. People do start to que at 8.15am to get the best sunbeds. At 9am people are running for the beds and it is a sea of yellow hotel towels. Lots of the beds are not used until later in the day. If you want a sunbed you need to que especially if you have young children and want the sun beds near the childrens pool/kids club. Do not run around the pool or walk fast, unless you have shoes or flip flops with grips on, it is VERY slippery and dangerous. I was always slipping and I saw one man go all the way over on his back with a loud bang. I ended up wearing crocs around the pool and on my daughter. Please be careful. There are showers around the pool as well. If you have children and want buckets, spades, floats, etc., do not buy them they are in the kids club you can sign for them in and out and take them to the beech for the day and then return them later that day or the next day. You are not allowed inflatables in the pool, large rings etc., I was a bit let down by the gym there, it is all weights and two cycle bikes. There was one keep fit class when we were there but it was not advertised very well and it was not until afterwards that I saw the advert for it. If you use the gym on holiday it was poor. You can charge everything to your room and pay for it on check out, which was good instead of having euros on you all the time. At dinner in the evening it is served from 7pm-10pm. They like their guests to dress 'elegantly' for dinner, men are not allowed to wear shorts or vest tops. Some men had 3/4 length short trousers on which as long as they are not sports ones they are ok with this. As I have said the food was excellent on some evenings there were 18 different puddings to choose from. Excellent food with lots of choice, no need to eat out at any of the local resturants. There is a mini bar in the room, which is well stocked and not that bad price wise. It is cheaper to drink in the local bars then in the hotel, much cheaper. There is the Orange Project Bar which is run by English people, turn left out of the hotel reception and it is a few yards on the left, blue bar with orange chairs. Brilliant people, lovely food, great breakfast if you miss breakfast in the hotel. They have something going on most nights, closed Mondays. Well worth a visit, cheap drinks as well. Corralejo is a great place to visit, lots to do from shopping, local markets, water parks, zoo trips etc., great family place. There is a local little train to go round the town on, it takes about 30 minutes, 5 euros each, you get to see all the back streets - fab time had by the young and old. It is on the main street you can not miss it, walk towards the harbour, leaves every 30 minutes from 10am - 7pm. The kids will love it. I would receommend the Bluebay Palace, to people who want a lovely hotel, who enjoy the better things in life, great mix of people. For the ladies, there was a guy in one of the bars playing the saxophone who looked like the doctor in Lost!!!! Well worth having a drink in there!!! Enjoy your holiday, we did and would go back, lots of the people in the hotel had been back year after year and have booked again for next year!!! Have a fantastic time I know you will. It is hot there but be careful of the wind, it takes the heat down but you can still get a very good tan.
