Candlewood Suites - Windsor Locks, USA     

We stayed at the Candlewood Suites because of an early morning (mid-week) flight from Bradley. We only live 30 minutes away, but the convenience and peace of mind of already being at the airport in the early morning was well worth every penny. The hotel is very new, everything is in excellent condition. We used the Stay, Park and Fly option (with the Fast Track shuttle to and from the airport). Candlewood Suites is truly 5 minutes from the airport, although the shuttle also stops next door at the Days Inn). The cleanliness, the quality, the convenience and the room layout were even better than expected. We also like the lobby "convenience store" called the Cupboard with everything you might need at a reasonable price. We noticed the laundry and gym looked good, if these are desired. We think it is a very good value for the price paid. Everything was as expected, the room, the wake-up call, the reliability of the shuttle going and returning. We left at 5:30 AM and returned home at 2:00 AM, waiting only a few minutes for the shuttle which dropped us off right next to our car. Stay, Park and Fly beats all other airport parking options, hands down. (The hotel gives you a slip of paper for the windshield to show you have legitimately self-parked in their lot). I would absolutely stay here again if my flight were very early or very late. I would recommend it to anyone who has guests flying into town to visit as well. Keep in mind, this is a business hotel versus a luxury/resort hotel and you should be very happy. We chose this hotel over others at Bradley based on a combination of Popularity (TripAdvisor rating), location and price. We assume that Days Inn is cheaper, because the shuttle had many more guests from the Days Inn than from Candlewood Suites, many of them members of flight crews. For us, however, TripAdvisor ranking was a priority.

Business brought me to the Hartford, CT area in January 2008. Because of the timing of flights and my meeting, I was obligated to spend the night in the Hartford airport area. I selected the Candlewood Suites because of the location and price. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was. It is nearly directly across from the runway, but since there are not really late flights out of this airport, airport noise is not a big factor. This hotel is new and it shows. The lobby is small but nicely appointed. There is a fitness room and business services center too, which is unusual in an extended stay type property. You were able to use the business center computers and print out items for free, a really good feature for the business traveler. They also had high speed internet access in the rooms at no additional charge. The rooms are obviously new. The door opens right onto the small kitchenette. The appliances are all new. There are granite countertops in the kitchenette and bath. There is also a small desk/dining table at the end of the kitchenette. The bed and TV armoire are at the end of the room. The bed was comfy, had lots of pillows and felt like a new mattress. The bathroom was spotless. The only complaint is that you could not use the second chair for the dinette because the recliner was in the way. I could have moved it to another spot in the room, but I couldn't be bothered. Checking in, you get coupons to use at the Cupboard to get drinks and snacks. I liked the fact that this was provided. The staff at the front desk were pleasant. Checking and checking out was quick and efficient. Overall, I was really pleased with my stay. If I'm ever in the Hartford Airport area again, I will definitely select the Candlewood Suites.
