My Partner and I booked our holiday at the Puerto Azul as an Easter holiday break. After reading some of the reviews and speaking to a couple who'd just come back from there we were extremely worried, but we needn't have been!!! The hotel isn't a 4* and if you like luxury on your holidays then this isn't the hotel for you, but, if like us, you just like a comfortable base where the rooms are spacious and clean...the food is edible...the staff are friendly...and the views are wonderful, then this hotel is absolutely fine...I loved the idea of it being all inclusive, but also having a kitchen area where you could make something yourself if you wanted to...even if it was just a sandwich! We did eat out a few times and can highly recommend Balcan Canario down in the centre. I'm also disabled and found that the staff were very accommodating and didn't have any problems at all getting my wheelchair around the place, (unfortunately the same can't be said for other places on the island)..so if you've booked a holiday here, please don't worry...don't expect a palace and you won't be disappointed!!!!!

We have just returned home from Gran Canaria Puerto Rico today Sunday 29th June 08, we had an ace time. Ignore reviews from people who say this hotel is unclean and the service and food are bad, I was so worried, but I didn't need to, The room was big clean and the balcany was huge. The food choices are varied and always hot, the snack bar is ok, if you don't like chips ham and cheese tosties or hot dogs or cheese burgers then probably not for you. But the buffet is always different, salads, lots of different hot dishes for everyones tastes. You can pretty much eat from 10 - 9pm either buffet dinner and breakfeast and tea and snacking in between. The hotel is up a hill but the views are ace. When you get there you get a map and have to find you room yourself and when you tired this is a bit annoying but you soon find your way round, and we never got stuck in a lift once. Don't let people put you off, we aren't fussy but we do like a very clean room and really nice hot food and I can't complain at all. You can walk up the hill or down to different places but get a taxi back it's a hard walk, and cheap at 2.50Euros.
