Hotel Santa Marta - Barcelona, Spain

After reading previous comments very unsure. When my wife & I arrived at Barcelona International Airport Taxi driver didnt have a clue 27euros later Santa Marta. Upon checkin Hotel manager had no booking or could not find one, He took our internet booking faxed it off and we were given room 104. Room was small but on suite & very very clean. Bath towels and bedding changed daily. Breakfast between 7 - 10 am very basic continental but what you would expect if still hungry local bars open at 7am and serve breakfast or lunches from 2 euros 300yards away. But what a location Franca main train station 2 miniute walk away 2.40euros to Barcelona airport 20 miniute journey. Cittadell Park 800yards away, Port 8 miniutes away and La Ramblas 15miniutes away Heaven!!!! Some previous comments are most unfair and unjust, Santa Marta is only 2* some previous underwriters should stay and sister hotels that are 3,4, & 5* but oh yeah they would have to pay more. Some it seems want a palace but only pay a bedsit rate. Great stay good hotel no complaints will be returning with our children in the new year.

Antedimento sofrível, gritos no Bar e na recepção, ironia dos atendentes, quartos sujos e mal cuidados, problemas de funcionamento do elevador, preço altíssimo para a infra-estrutura oferecida, por quase nada a mais, fique no Coluña Princesa. Apesar de situar-se perto da Rua das Ramblas, o local fica muito vazio à noite e sente-se medo de chegar no Hotel, por sua localização. Percebeu-se, também, tratamento diferenciado (para pior) porque a reserva foi feita pela internet/Venere.

on my 4th trip to Barcelona I wanted to stay near the gothic quarter and harbour so the Santa Marta was in the right area and seemed cheaper than hotels nearby (which I have also stayed in) the reason for this is that it is down a small street and so there isn't a great view out the windows but it's clean and has it's own bar downstairs. Hotel is 5-10 mins walk from all the main areas and public transport to anything further away is 2 mins away as well. The staff all seemed friendly and as I was looking for something basic as a base for exploring this suited me fine. One problem was the walls are quite thin so you can hear everything going on but it's a city so what else do you expect. Please also remember that in Barcelona everyone smokes everywhere so if you don't like that you'll need to spend more on a hotel with more stars, I smoke so it suited me fine.
