Planamar - Platja d'Aro, Spain     

This is a small hotel, only four storeys high. It sits right on the beach between two very high blocks. It appears to have been completely refurbished because everything was new and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was a buffet with a reasonable selection. Fresh fruit and juice would be nice but for a two and a half star all was good. There is a small pool and terrace on the roof. Also a gym and internet access plus a good selection of books in a variety of languages. The staff were all friendly and very helpful and the girls on reception spoke four languages. There was a lovely feel about the place. The only negatives were that the soundproofing was very poor. I could hear the people next door talking but not what they said! This was not a problem on my visit as we were a group of 12. also the bar doesn't seem to have had the same refurb as the rest of the hotel and could do with it. There are a great many restaurants nearby. We especially liked the chinese literally across the road. A walk along the seafront in either direction is worth doing. We got a taxi to Sagora (11 euro) and walked back stopping at a beach bar where the prawns looked and smelled beautiful. We 12 came here to play golf which we did but we loved the area and will return.
