Went to the Club hotel at the beginning of May. After reading the reviews on here, my boyfriend and I were actually starting to dread going! Turns out we had nothing to worry about! On arriving to the hotel we were greeted by the friendly Italian family that run the hotel. Even though it was very late when we arrived, they still gave us dinner which was lovely. Our room was clean and basic which is all you need really! The room was cleaned daily and fresh towels provided every day. We had a balcony that looked out onto the swimming pool. The pool was clean, as was the surrounding pool area. Our room was literally next to the train track. Although a little worrying at first, once we had settled into the room, we didnt even notice it! I cant believe people were moaning about the church bells on their reviews. As far as myself and my boyfriend was concerned, it added to the authentic Italian way of life and we had to get used to looking at our watches when we got back home to tell the time! The family that runs the hotel were lovely. Always one of them around if you needed anything. The food was ok. As previous reviews have said, lovely Italian cooking, but the English dishes were a bit hit or miss. Basic continental breakfast in the mornings but was enough to last you through to lunch time. Although we paid for full board, we ended up eating out in restaurants in Sorrento for the last 3 nights purely because we wanted to sample other Italian cuisine. A little tip for everyone planning to go to Sorrento... The travel operators offer excursions to Pompeii, Herculaneum, Mount Vesuvius etc, but the tend to be a tad expensive. We decided to do them all by ourselves as we found the bus and train services extremely easy to use and at a fraction of the price! The only one that you cant do by yourself is the Amalfi drive which is a must. Beautiful scenery! A fantatsic holiday with a nice hotel.

We have just returned from a week at the Hotel Club and found it very friendly, on the whole very clean and with lovely home cooked Italian food - their speciality, English options were not so good at times - but when in Italy ...... eat as the Italians! The pool was spotless, our bathroom was cleaned every day and our bed remade, we did not get clean sheets during our stay but did not find this to be a problem. The staff were very friendly and helpful and worked hard to please everyone. Some guests in the past have given the hotel a bad review but had they done some research into the hotel they would have known it was close to the train line but compared to the price of some of the other hotels you do get great value for money. At the end of the day you don't go on holiday to spend all day in your hotel. We, and some of the other guests, found the church bells no problem and you do get used to the 15 min chimes as they are part of the local community you are staying in. Yes you can hear the trains as the hotel is situated close to the train track but the fact that the station is a five min walk can be a great advantage to visit both beautiful and historical sights. We would certainly use the Club Hotel again.
