Hotel Locanda Canal - Venice, Italy     

We just returned from a wonderful one-week-vacation in Venice staying in Hotel Locana Canal. It is a very romantic little Hotel, located on a small canal, very quiet, but only a 3 minutes walk to San Marco and a romantic canal-bridge- and square-crossing walk to Rialto and the whole ancient Venice - perfect! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The furniture is new, very elegant stylish venecian but not overloaded - we loved it!!! and felt perfectly at home. Our room was very comfortable,stylish furnitured and perfect clean . Breakfast was every morning a wonderful beginning of the day in a lovely familiar room with a very nice waitress. We booked already for next year.

Stayed here for 3 nights in September 2005. Excellent location and nice, small hotel which we found good value for money (especially for venice!!) at approx £250 for whole stay including breakfast. The room was clean and bright although not terribly big, and furnished in typical venetian style. The bathroom was suprisingly roomy and had good quality fixtures including a very impressive massage type shower. Breakfast adequate although nothing special, and could be a bit of a wait for a table at times as everyone seemed to descend at once. The location of the hotel is great-only 5-10 mins away from st Marks Square, yet away from the hustle and bustle and by a quiet stretch of canal. Around the corner from the hotel is a quiet square which is a lovely place to have a drink in the late afternoon/evenings and watch the locals as they pass by. Overall a nice hotel and good value at the price we paid, however worth mentioning that some friends booked this hotel on our recommendation only to be sent to a nearby hotel (casa pisani-i think) when they arrived.
