Pros:
- Great location, 10-minute walk to Las Ramblas, literally one step outside the metro stop.
- Nice view, we had a corner room with three floor-to-ceiling window-doors that opened into small balconies. We paid the cheapest price that we could find (75 euro) and didn't request it or anything.
Cons:
- Requested a double bed, the best they could do was push two single beds together.
- Hot water in shower went from normal to scorching hot... every 6 seconds or so. It was like clockwork.
- Heater in room did not work.
- Staff was borderline rude. I have never been to a hotel where every single employee I talked to made me feel like they hated being there and didn't want me to be there either.
The quality of the room was vastly better than a hostel, but overall the experience was incredibly disappointing compared to other hotels.
I would only recommend this to someone who is deciding between this or a hostel. I have stayed in some hostels in Barcelona, and this was a little bit better, for a comparable price if you have 2 or 3 people.
To get to the hotel from the airport, I followed a previous Tripadvisor's post, it was very easy:
Take the Blue city bus from the airport to the Placa Catalunya. It cost around 3.50 euro per person. The Placa Catalunya is the first stop on the bus, and the driver didn't call it out or anything, so be ready to get off.
Take the Metro to the Jaume I stop, it is on the yellow L4 line.
It is literally right outside the metro stop.

We got a great deal with this hotel and after reading the reviews I was a bit nervous but it was a really pleasant experience.
the hotel is situated less than 5 mins from la ramblas and the port area.
Our room was old fashioned enough but with all the trimmings you would expect a tv, phone, mini bar, safe, hair dry and nice bath with powerful shower.
The beds were really comfy and we had a balcony that looked onto a busy street.
I would say if you have children this is not the hotel for you as its very noisy at night . Barcelona enjoys a rather particular reputation for its night life.
there are many small cafes and boutiques nearby but dont eat in cappacino cafe chain they charged us 11 euros for two cheese sandwiches and two cokes.
for good value and a safe central location this is a great place to stay
