Hotel Barcelona Catedral - Barcelona, Spain     

Great hotel just a few strides from the square in front of the old cathedral. A short walk from all means of transport. Surprisingly quiet considering it is so close to the hustle and bustle of central Barcelona. The hotel itself was very good and we would have awarded it an excellent if it had been a little warmer. The weather was cold when we visited and a few more degrees of heat would have been nice although it certainly wasn't enough to spoil our time there. The bedrooms are well set out and the bathroom was lovely with a 'proper' bath and shower. Excellent safe (no extra charge) and plenty of clothes storage. We didn't use the restaurant so can't comment but the bar area was comfortable and the drinks were reasonably priced and actually cheaper than some of the bars surrounding it! The staff were very polite, courteous and helpful and the maid service unobtrusive. Whatever time we left, the rooms were always cleaned, tidied and re-stocked with towels before we got back. One whinge - tea and coffee is only provided for your arrival further supplies have to be bought from the room bar/fridge.

My wife and I stayed here for a three day break from Friday to Monday. The hotel is really well located in a central location that is very convenient for walking to all the main tourist areas and about 7 minutes walk from where the airport bus terminates in Placa Catalunya. The staff were very friendly and helpful in what is a modern but attractive hotel. The rooms are really well designed with a king size bed and very large bathroom. Our room overlooked the internal coutyard and whilst not an amazing view, it meant that it was very quiet for a location so close to the busy Cathedral area. We didn't have breakfast as at 15 Euros each it seemed a bit excessive and there are plenty of cafes around where you can get a fruit juice, coffee and croissant for under 5 Euros. Similarly loads of places to eat around and about, all of which were very accommodating and explained their menus etc if needed. Barcelona was a great place to visit for a long weekend. The Metro is very cheap and easy to use.
