Grand Hotel Central - Barcelona, Spain

We moved from another totally unsatisfactory hotel in Barcelona to the Grand Central. The location is perfect! The hotel itself is very dark inside the lobby and passages to the rooms. We had a corner room which was very light. The hotel is very modern and stylish which I loved! The bed was so comfortable I wanted to find out the brand! All the room windows have electric roll down blackout blinds (Great if you jetlagged and need to sleep in the day!) The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a stunning pool right on the top of the hotel as well as a well-equiped gym. The one and only downside is that you cannot open any windows in the rooms and some people might find it claustrophobic... But otherwise I would definately stay there again!!

Highly recommend this hotel, location was excellent for the major attractions, very close to the old city with easy walking to reach the metro & sightseeing buses. Staff were pleasant, buffet breakfast was ample. Really thought the complementary soft drink mini-bar was a welcome change. Our room faced a corner street & was very quiet. Lighting is quite subdued in the room & the only problem was that the mirror was a bit underlit. Would certainly return - great city!

This hotel is in a great location for exploring Barcelona on foot. However, when we stayed the weather was dreadful from arriving to leaving (two days early), this was nothing to do with hotel. However, the bad weather highlighted certain points. 1. No radiators in room for drying, but hotel staff took clothes away and returned them promptly. 2. The restaurant appeared 'cafe like' and functional and no bar to relax in. 3. The minimalistic decor was very despressing in bad weather, i.e. grey walls and spotlights, which left us yearning to get outside for some daylight. 4. Staff were excellent and helpful. Would certainly return here, but only if sunny :)
