I was very impressed with the Abba Rambla as it is hard to find an affordable hotel just a few minutes' walk away from La Rambla. I was surprised that it is only a three star hotel - I have stayed in four stars a lot worse than this one. The rooms were clean and very modern in style. Customer service was excellent. The TV wasn't working but they had an engineer up within 5 minutes of my phoning down to reception who fixed it straight away. It is true that the location isn't the ritziest and glamourous in all of Central Barcelona as it is an area of immigrants. I didn't feel in the slightest bit intimidated there though (mind you, I have lived in some pretty scary places in my time!). The upside is that there is some very cheap shopping and supermarkets around and a good choice of cheap ethnic food such as kebabs and curries. If ever I go back to Barcelona, this will be the first hotel that I try and book as I think it offers exceptional value for money in a central location.

This is an outstanding value. Clean with super friendly multilingual staff, this is a great little hotel. The breakfast is optional, but well worth the money. The location was great for seeing the city and yes the 5 minute walk to Las Ramblas is typical inner city, but this Barcelona not Beverley Hills. The bath was a clean modern surprise, and our room was very quiet. Would stay here again.
