Abba Rambla Hotel - Barcelona, Spain     

Das Abba Rambla ist eine ausgezeichnete Wahl wenn man eine zentrale komfortable Unterkunft mit einem günstigen Preisleistungsverhältnis in Barcelona sucht. Etwas abseits des Touristennepps auf der Ramblas de Catalunya trifft man hier im Raval noch auf authentisches Leben. Es ist hier nicht unsicherer als in anderen Stadtteilen. Besonders zu empfehlen sind die Zimmer im obersten Stockwerk mit einem schönen Blick auf die Rambla de Raval.

The first thing I would say is DO NOT BELIEVE THE BAD REVIEWS ABOUT BEING IN DANGER!!!! Seriously, people are being really over the top about this! We went when it was festival time for my hubby's birthday and it was great!!! Just be careful and safe and you'll be fine. Chose this hotel as we'd stayed at the Abba Graden hotel 4 years ago and it was lovely. We were not disappointed with our choice this year. Hotel are fab at letting you know which streets are best to use (they mark on a map with green and red felt tip!) and after that everything was cool. The road we called 'the hospital road' cos it was easier than saying it in spanish is fine for walking through during the day but basically has some hookers wandering on it after dark. There is another road 2mins up which is parrallel for you to use safely at night time. No problems whatsoever! If you're sensible and careful you'll have no issues, the same as any other city you'll visit. Hotel is soooooo clean! Very modern and perfect for a short stay right in the centre. Rooms aren't huge, but who goes to Barcelona to stay in their room all day?! Shower is fab and great air con when we were there. Free digi safe usage and plasma tv (only channel in english is bbc 24 but again who goes on hols to watch tv?!) Found a great little tapas bar across the square called La Fragua (ask for Leo who is Brazillian but speaks great english to help with any menu problems!) which serves great tapas and open til 1am for drinks and food til at least 11.30pm. The one a couple of doors up (don't know the name but windows have a symbol on them) were very rude and only open for locals? Pizza place called La Veronica serves only salads and pizzas with strange toppings (leek and gorgonzola?) - very nice but if you want some more authentic grub try the tapas places on Carrer de Carnes (road to walk to La Ramblas) or La Fragua. Even tho the festival was on and a huge stage and loads of stalls outside the hotel til after 12, the rooms in the hotel were soundproofed so no hassles with noise. Taxi from airport to the hotel costs approx 30-35 euros including a tip. Walk to La Ramblas is 10 mins and 15 to Placa De Catalunya. Reception staff were polite and always said hello and goodbye when leaving or coming in and happily ordered us taxis etc with no complaints. Maid service was fab, we had a long lie one day and they called from reception to ask if we still wanted room service and came after we left which was nice and they weren't rude at all. Altogether very impressed and would go again, but it's already booked up for the dates we want next year in June!
