We selected this hotel because they had the lowest priced double room in Barcelona, and Wi-Fi in the rooms (at 8 Euros per day). It is located in a slightly rough neighborhood, a bit far away from the action, however a Metro station is 2 blocks away.
Our bad experience begun immediatly: they charged the full 4 days of our stay the day we arrived; also the Wi-Fi was down all the time.
I got room 203. The window lock was broken, and was so smelly, that we requested a change. The gave us room 103, wich was appearently OK until we discovered that night the pillows smelled to human sweat; and worst of all, the drainage piping croses thru that room, so we heard a loud water (and whatever came with it) roaring noise in the room every time a toiled was flushed upstairs. It was really disgusting - the noise was so clear and loud that seemed like the waste waters were spilled in our floor.
Every night we had to leave the TV on trying to block the sewage noise and get some sleep.
The 4th night was the worst. The water noise stayed for hours - we suspected a toilet was leaking and had the hotel people check our room at 3:00 AM. They said it was "the air conditioning". We had to catch an early flight but we did not get much sleep because of the noise.
We tried to leave the hotel during the second day, but they refused to refund my money - I treatened to call the Consumer Affairs at Barcelona but they didn't seem to care.
I've been a international traveler for 31 years, and I think this is the worst experience I've had in a hotel. Please do not ruin your trip to this beautiful city by staying at this place.

To start of this is our first trip to Barcelona and we first stayed at the Barcelo Atenea Mar, that hotel was great the only bad thing was that during winter they don't turn on the air conditioning but overall the hotel was great. We booked from Thursday the 22 until the 26, but we had so much fun we decided to stay two more days. Now the Barcelo didn't have enough rooms available(we were 6) so we had to leave and find something close by.When we saw the price for the Ronda Lesseps we thought ok its cheap and it looks ok from the pictures on the website let's do it.What a biggggggg mistake. When we got there first you have to make a deposit of 20 euros for the TV remote(they give it back though) then when we got to the rooms they smelled of smoke even if you ask for a non-smoking room your out of luck. The bathrooms were a stink, the bathtub/jacuzzi look as if they have been rotting for 20 years and no one has found the time to clean them right. The view to our room was the roof with thousands of residential apartments surrounding us,my parents room led to the streets where construction work was being done. The beds were small really small and honestly it was not worth the price we paid for.Anyway if you are looking for something better stay at the Barcelo Atenea Mar I highly recomend that one.
