Melia Barcelona - Barcelona, Spain     

My husband and i spent three nights at this hotel last march and we are going back for a couple of nights these christmas. The staff are lovely and always there to help and advice with restaurants, tours, shopping etc. The hotel is a little far from Las Ramblas and the area around it but it is quiet and more upmarket and you are right in the middle of some of the most sought after residential areas in the city, plus you still have some really great restaurants and a lot of lovely shops including some spanish high street names, only without the crowds, which is a lot better. Taxis to the city centre are very cheap and the walk down to the Plaza de Espana area, even though is quite long, is a great way to take in the arquitecture and the vibe of the city, and if you fancy a break there are always plenty of bars and cafes to stop and recharge the batteries. I would recomend this hotel to couples of all ages, it is a quieter option, but really romantic and a great way to see more of Barcelona.
