AC Vilamari - Barcelona, Spain     4 star hotel

Location

City Centre, Near Exhibition Centre

Las Ramblas (2.8 km) - It is Barcelona's centrepiece, the kilometre-long pedestrian boulevard flanked by narrow traffic lanes which runs from Placa Cataluna to the Columbus statue. The starting point and focus of most visitors' stay in Barcelona, the Ramblas is lively throughout the day and night with a huge selection of bars, restaurants, the prestigious El Liceu theatre and unique street performers who range from surreal human statues and card tricksters to talented artists and musicians.

Gothic Quarter (3.3 km) - This is the heart of the city. The reason it is one of the most frequently visited areas in the city is largely due to 2 squares. One is a square aptly named for the cathedral that rises up from its centre; the other is Plaça Sant Jaume, Barcelona's administrative centre and home to the City Hall and the seat of the Generalitat (Catalonia's autonomous government).

The Raval (2.4 km) - For a long time this was a rather marginalised area. Nowadays a few troubled spots still exist in the so-called Barrio Chino. However, a concerted effort at urban rehabilitation changed the face of the Raval and set out to draw attention to the cultural points of interest that this area has to offer. The Center de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (center for contemporary culture or CCCB) and the museu d’art contemporani dbarcelona (museum of contemporary art or macba) are the clearest examples of this change, which is also reflected in the growing number of art galleries and designer boutiques.

Barceloneta (3.6 km) - It is the old fisherman's quarter of Barcelona where the old port meets the beach. The area has among the best fish restaurants in town and a long sandy beach which is popular all year round with sunbathers, windsurfers, joggers and cyclists and particularly lively in summer when the beach bars (chiringuitos) open up.
