We have just returned from Acevi Villarroel where we had a very pleasant stay indeed. Certainly a hotel we'd recommend, thats located in a quiet area but within walking distance of Las Ramblas (about 15 mins) and very near a Metro stop called Urgell (5min stroll.) Lovely small bars and bakeries nearby with alot of restaurant choice in the area too (inc. a Vegetarian). Overall interior of the hotel was very positive with a clean, modern decor and friendly staff. The room was again very modern with a really comfortable bed which is a definite plus! On the downside however there was a really odd gap around the bathroom door which meant sharing the room can be an interesting experience (!!) a bad design flaw that sadly let the room down. This combined with the fact that the shower wasnt working (going hot and cold) for the 5 days we were there and even though we did tell the staff (twice) nothing was done to fix it! We would go back however as this was hopefully a once off experience!

we booked here very last minute and ended up paying a lot to stay here but it was well worth it - a really lovely hotel! we'd come from a trip around older parts of europe and this hotel - although business orientated and on the outskits of the city - was fantastic. very new and clean, superior bathroom decor, beautiful bed, desk, flowers, mini bar etc. quite spacious and cool which was nice as barcelona was hot! it's quite a walk to the main part of the city but is fine if you enjoy walking...maybe 15 minutes to la rambla. we had a really nice time here although i would recommend trying to get a deal where breakfast is included - always a good bonus and we missed out!
