Hostal Centric - Barcelona, Spain     

I stayed here in July '07 and it was a great stay. The rooms were clean and gave me an authentic feel of a real spanish room. I didn't want to stay at a regular hostel where I'd have to share my room with other travellers so I booked a private room. The location is excellent and it is just 5 minutes walk from Placa Catalunya which is great if you took the A1 Aerobus to get to Barcelona. On first arrival, I was greeted by a knowledgeable attendant who was helpful. The hostel was a bit dark so it would help if they got better lighting on the lobby and hallways. Nobody really stayed in the common area so it is hard to meet other travellers. They have a computer with internet. I stayed in a room away from the traffic so it was quiet in that sense but I am a light sleeper so sleeping with a fan on all night would have kept me awake all night but luckily I brought my own earplugs so that solved the problem. They make your bed every day so it was great to come back to a neatly tucked bed. Pros: you have your own private room, helpful and friendly staff, clean rooms and bathrooms, they make your bed and clean your room daily, excellent location. cons: The hostel could have used better lighting, quieter fan. If you have a room next to the street, bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper. Would I stay here again? yes, it's nice and clean.
