Stayed here for 3 nights in May. Location is great, within walking distance of Guggenheim and shops etc. Hotel looks fantastic from the outside and the reception area and lounge is lovely. Rooms are large, I wouldn't say modern but nicely decorated. Eating in this hotel is SO expensive, we tried it one night and would not recommend it. There are no brochures in the reception area for day trips, or maps to say where you were. I didn't feel it was tourist orientated at all. Reception had very little English and I have very little Spanish so it was a real ordeal asking for directions so we basically just winged it the whole time and spent hours wandering the streets. The bar is has an odd atmosphere to it too, there are only about 5 tables in it and it is not very private, we took our drink out to the lounge which we had to ourselves and it was much nicer. We found the bar prices to be a bit on the expensive side also.

This is a lovely hotel and right in the heart of everything. It was beautifully decorated and the room had air conditioning, which is hard to come by in Europe for some reason. The king bed was two queens pushed together with a king headboard. I don't believe you will find any different in Spain? We got a great rate on this hotel (something like $100 a night). If it is still around that price, you cannot go wrong here.
