We had a wonderful time at this hotel. I had read some of the reivews before we left and was a little apprehensive. However, my husband and I stayed there for six nights in April and found the sataff to be courteous and very helpful. We paid 20 Euros a day extra for an upgraded room and the money spent was well worth it. The room was very spacious. We also enjoyed the buffet breakfast. and found the food to be of very good quality. I would definitely recommend this property.

We have just returned from Long Weekend staying at the Tryp Ambassador, we weren't originally booked in at this hotel, but were placed into this after our previous hotel overbooked, so I was very apprehensive after reading the reviews on this website. But we were really pleased with this hotel, it’s a 2 min walk from the tube station. Don't take a taxi, the cost of 35 Euros is better spent towards a meal, the tube only cost us 2 euros each and was so very easy. The hotel is in the centre of Madrid, but off a side street so its very quiet, no traffic noise at all. . Its a 2 min downhill walk from the Opera and a 5 min walk to the palace, overall in the centre of everything, The hotel is very grand & yes it is old and yes the stair carpets are a little tread bare and perhaps it could do with a make over, but if you look around it’s not that bad and we were pleasantly surprised by size of the rooms. The rooms are clean & nicely decorated & they are cleaned every day. Ok so the bathroom suite is orange as in some so of photo’s, but again its clean. The air conditioning is a little noisy but not enough to keep you awake at night, but then show me any air conditioning units that aren’t.. The staffs are friendly & speak very good English and will be happy to recommend restaurants to you. Would we stay at this hotel again, most certainly yes!!! .
