Aegeon - Thessaloniki, Greece     

My friend and I stayed in this hotel overnight before an early morning flight out of Thessaloniki. The hotel is within a fifteen minute walk of both the train station and the downtown waterfront area, although at quite a distance from the nearly-suburban airport (cab was about 20 Euro). The rooms are designed with your typical budget-level furnishings and are generally clean. We had a room in the rear of the building, but heard that those closer to the front could get noisy due to the busy street traffic. During the evening we noticed an ant problem in one corner of our room, and when brought to the attention of the management, we were quickly transferred to another room. Based on the second room, it was likely an isolated incident. The desk staff spoke English well, and were very gracious in allowing us to leave luggage in storage with them for four days prior to our reserved night's stay. Our double was a very reasonable 56 Euro/night, which was a great value. If other hotels, especially closer to the waterfront, could be had at this price I would probably try them out, as there was little that was above-average about the Aegeon. Nevertheless, it was good value for the money and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
