Hotel Krone - Tubingen, Germany     

The location is great - just across the river from old town tuebingen. The rooms are very small, the service plainly horrible. Forgot the wakeup call, everything takes forever... If they would improve in the service this could be a really charming place.

The Krohne is one of the few hotels in the drop dead gorgeous town of Tubingen. Its 20m from the river and a few minutes walk from the old town. The lack of competition seems to have let the place rest on its laurels for too long. It was once probably a very special place with its 1900s décor and wood panelled rooms. Now it’s just tired and a bit naff. Plus points: location, character and a good modern glass n’steel extension on the site containing a nice restaurant. Minus points: no Internet facilities, no air con (important when the streets outside are so busy), stains on the ceiling, the odd bit of peeling wall paper, dark 70’s style bathroom and bright plastic flowers. They charge 4* prices which seems high considering the that the place is more B&B quality than Business Class.
