My family and I just had a very nice 2 day stay at the Relais Ravestein.
I had contacted the property directly to make my booking and they were always very prompt in responding to emails.
The check in process was very smooth and we were escorted to our room by one of the staff. The room was just perfect for my family. My husband and I slept downstairs while my kids, ages 7 and 12 slept in the loft upstairs, under the rafters. The room was well furnished and I liked the exposed beams that had been painted over.
It's always hard to find hotels that have good arrangements for families staying together that give the parents privacy while still having the children in the same room. Room 21 met those conditions.
The bathroom was a good size with a jacuzzi tub in it and a nice rainshower.
The staff was always friendly and helpful and it's nice of the hotel to offer umbrellas for use during the stay since the rain seems to come and go all the time.
As another reviewer noted, it is about a 10 minute walk from the main square but that was not a problem for us, rather a pleasant way to digest our dinners.
Overall, a very positive experience largely due to the set up of the room.

If you are not traveling on a budget, and want to stay in Brugge in luxury, then the Relais Ravestein deserves a look. We had a wonderful two night stay there, and can't say enough about the staff that runs this small hotel. From the reception help to the dining service and the breakfast wait staff, each member was fluent in English, friendly and helpful with all of our requests. Everyone was knowledgeable about the area and helped to make our stay extra-special.
The accomodations are pretty over the top contemporary - and I must confess the whirlpool tub was just what I needed after a lengthy day of walking on the cobblestones of Brugge. The hotel is just a short walk into the center of the town, and is located on a picturesque canal.
Although the breakfast buffet was an additional charge, it was worth the fee and was not a surprise. Our reservation specifically stated that this was not included. In fact, no place we stayed in Belgium included breakfast with the room charge - it was an additional fee.
If we are fortunate to return to Brugges again, we will definitely return to the Relais Ravestein.
