Good things first: Feldkirch is a nice town and it was quite easy to find the hotel and the underground parking garage. Hotel seems to be ok and with some general behaviour adjustment for the staff the result might just be allright.
As we were on a road trip, we booked the hotel the same afternoon from the previous city and arrived to the hotel in the evening after few hours of driving. As we arrived, our reservation wasn't there and the receptionist had to go to a different computer to dig it out from their internet booking system which they apparently do not check very often.
We got a decent room which we had nothing to complain about - not until the visitors next door came to their room. The two rooms have a doorway between them so that the rooms could be connected to a family room and at least the door on our side was unlocked (we didn't dare to check if the other one was unlocked too). Even with the doors closed we could hear everything that the elderly couple in the other room was talking about (luckily in a language that we don't speak) and what the lady was doing in the bathroom. When she applied parfume as much as many old women do, the smell was instantly all over our room.
We didn't unpack but when we left to search something to eat, we told the story to the guy in the reception. He claimed that the hotel was fully booked, there were no available rooms and if the parfume smell bothers, we must open a window. The claim about the fully booked hotel was hard to believe because there were a lot of different room options available only hours earlier when we booked. Altough we were quite upset, we were also tired and didn't want to fight so we kept the room and just tried to manage.
In the morning we went to restaurant to have breakfast and there were couple of birds inside the restaurant going freely (sometimes even flying) in and out while eating crumbs from the floor and the staff was just ignoring them and didn't bother to close the door to the terrace when the birds were out. So much about our appetite.
When we were checking out, they tried to charge us 30 euros more than our reservation said (which they even had printed out for their own files).
Summa summarum, HI Feldkirch has potential of being ok but currently fails miserably because of the indifferent staff.
