Loved this place. First time here and really wanted to make sure I got a great hotel. I am on the last night of my week here and have mostly great experiences. The location is perfect. Close to all touristy things, service was excellent as well, concierges were all very helpful. I booked a superior room directly and got a great rate, because I did not want any issues with a small room. Also, definitely sign up for the select guest service beforehand. Free wifi, turndown service etc. ALSO, my birthday is this month, so they left a bucket of cold champagne in my room with a sweet card. WOW! Great touch. Had no noise issues whatsoever. All in all a great place to stay.
Some minor things for me: Room service bills. Order an $18 breakfast and by the time it gets to your room, it magically becomes $36 with all the fees and gratuities. You would think that they drove it in from Texas. I know hotels do this because business travelers could care less, but I bet if you kept those fees in check more people would order food.
The Rib Room has great food, but the attitude is a little too precious for me. Although I did get a kick out of seeing people actually dress up for dinner and lunch, much of the help there think they own the place. I was about 10 minutes too late for a breakfast serving and the help clearly thought that I had some nerve for dare asking for breakfast too late.
I would reccomend this place to anyone and would definitely come back here.

Just returned from a 5 night stay at the Omni Roayl 12/16-12/20.
I did a lot of research before booking at the Omni. The reviews on tripadvisor were very helpful.
We booked online and received an awesome rate direct from the hotel. We booked a King Superior with a view (not really). Since the weeks before Christmas are slow, the rate per night was $103. During other times of the year you will pay $300 a night for the same room.
Upon arriving at the hotel by taxi from the airport ($28.00 + tip), we went to check-in. The associate at the front desk just handed me the keys and did not provide any information about the hotel or local sights etc.
The first room we were given was on the 7th floor. Warning, all view rooms on the 7th floor come with angled ceilings and a window so small and high you will see nothing. I felt like I was staying in my Grandma's attic. I aksed to be moved and was, to the 6th floor. The view from the hotels "view" rooms are not really views. Save your $$ and book a room without a view.
I was suprised that no reviews have mentioned the noise problems at this hotel. This will deter me from staying here again or recommending it to others. I have stayed in a Bourbon Street hotel during Mardi Gras and expereinced less noice.
I was 4 rooms away from the elevator and if you stay in rooms lower than 50 or 51 you will hear the ding of the elevator and loud talking. Staying at this hotel during a busy time of year would be very unpleasant. Do yourself a favor and request a room as far as possible from the elevator.
The doors to the rooms are heavy and you will door slammming all the time. You will also hear people in the rooms next to you and above you and their toiltes and shower too.
The first night at the hotel I ordered room service, soup and a salad. It took an hour for my order to arrive and it was not correct. To their credit, the hotel did the right thing and removed the charages from my bill.
I used the hotel's concierge services and was quite happy and we ate in the Rib Room. The food and service were fine.
Do join Omni's Select Guest Program before you arrive. You will get free internet access and morning beverage service. These were nice perks.
Since we had done the French Quarter experinece during a previous trip, we spend our days exploring other parts of New Orleans. We took the Gray Line Katrina Tour. This was very informative, not macabe. The tour guide is a NOLA native and you will walkaway feeling angry that 2 1/2 yrs after the storm that things are not where they need to be. If you can, talk with folks you are rebuilding. You will get a sense of why people have not come home.
Do not miss the WWII Museum. Fabulous! We arrived at Noon and left at 5:00 pm. If you are a history buff you should plan to spend the entire day.
We decided to also take a walking tour of the Garden District. This was a great tour. You simply take the St. Charles Streetcar to the location where the tour meets.
We also enjoyed some great music during our trip. We navigated to Donna's for Monday night music. You will get red beans, rice and chicken to go along with the music.
We also went to the House of Blues and was luck enought to hear the Rebirth Brass Band!
Overall, a good trip. I would choose another hotel next time around. There are too many hotels to choose from, so you don't need to settle for one that will not make you happy.
Go to New Orleans. They need your $$$ and you will have an awewsome time.
