Gran Hotel Almeria - Almeria, Spain 

We stayed 6 nights at this hotel in early June and had a great time. The hotel was very clean, as was the swimming pool which was never busy, in fact the only busy time was the weekend when there were 2 wedding receptions, but as our room was on the 5th floor they were not a problem. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom was large.However, as the hotel is at a very busy road junction near the harbour and there was a lot of traffic noise if you had the balcony door open, but quiet if closed. You could ask for a room at the back which would be quieter. The air conditioning was a bit noisy, too. Breakfast was a good selection hot/cold buffet for 12euros extra and we paid 61euros a night for the room. There are plenty of liitle cafes to eat in nearby which were cheaper. Overall we thought it very good value for a hotel 15 minutes walk to town centre shops and old quarter and 10 minutes to a pleasant beach. We loved Almeria and the only time we heard any English spoken was when a Thomson cruise ship was in port.
