We have just returned from a thoroughly enjoyable week at the Colon Guanahani. It truely deserves its 4 star rating, and is well on its way to a five.
We found this hotel to be well presented, perfectly clean, and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms where spacious and well decorated, and cleaned thoroughly once a day without fail.
We opted for bed and breakfast as its so cheap to eat out every night in tenerife anyway. The breakfast's where fantastic though, so much choice with more than enough for every one.
Lastly the hotel is in a great location, and is only a very short walk from the beach, shops and many resturants. Its quite a quiet, peaceful little hotel, with a majority guests being +50.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

In other hands this hotel would be very ordinary. It's not the swankiest place we've ever stayed, nor the most modern. It's "English-as-a-second-language" cabaret some nights would have had even Simon Cowell dashing for the exit. And by last October, it was about time some-one dug out the paint and polyfilla for a spot of touching up.
But none of that matters one little bit because what lifts this hotel well above the average is the exemplary attitude of the staff which would not be out of place in a far more upmarket hotel. Nothing is too much trouble, everything is done with a smile and everyone from reception staff to cleaners takes pride in what they do. The end result is a spotlessly clean, friendly hotel that boasts an enviable record of repeat bookings.
That said, some of the surrounding area is dreadful. Avoid the beach area unless you have no other clothes than replica football shirts, a protruding beer gut and more than four visible tattoos (and that's just the women). Incidentally, the quality of food in the "restaurants" in that area hasn't been equalled since the Reverend Jim Jones decided it was time to take his flock with him to Paradise. There are decent places to eat in Costa Adeje, but they're few and far between.
We spent a week there recuperating from a hectic workload . The Guanahani proved the difference between going home refreshed and going home early. We'd unhesitatingly recommend it to anyone who needs a restful break.
