The hotel was built in 1920 and also survived the bombardment of March 9, 1944. Hotel Skåne was rebuilt at the beginning of the 20th century and was fully renovated in 2003. The hotel has an original historical feeling, and the Old Town is only a 5-minute walk from the hotel.

If I have the opportunity to go back again to Estonia I would repeat the experience. A decent price, very quiet, very competent personal, everything clean, free wi-fi, 5min walking to downtown and 15min to the ferryboat station (Terminal D - Helsinki).
Ah! And "Skane" is the name of a fortress next to the hotel! You should visit it!
I'd be happy to recommend Hotel Skane to any budget traveller.
Pro's: I liked the counter service the place was very clean and tidy, good location for walking to the old city.
Cons: Could have a variation in the breakfast menu or more selection.
Room was a bit small, (but fine for me as I was on my own)
I stayed with my bf 2 nights in May 2008. The room was small and basic but clean and pretty. The bed was great. The view from the second floor was also nice. The staff was friendly. We had some problems with hot water though. One of the showers I tried to take it was nonexistent. Breakfast was very simple but decent. Overall an ok experience. Good price too.
The rooms were clean, well appointed and comfortable. The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. The location is very close to the tram lines and the Old Town and overall my stay was very pleasant.
