The hotel was ok and the staffs were friendly. Breakfast was ok. The room was okay, but small bathrooms and some noise from the street at night. The hotel was close to many great attractions, but also close to some dubious shops... The elevator was broken and didn't work properly when we stayed there. But in all I had a nice stay there with my boyfriend. I could go back, it was quite cheep and you get what you pay for.

All negative reviews here are true. I happened to stay in that dump for a night back in May 2003 and still remember the disgusting experience (had to stay in Amsterdam for a day longer than initially planned and my regular hotel was booked). The front desk staff was unbelievably rude, especially a blonde girl. The room was right next to the elevator, so I couldn't sleep all night, plus it reeked of sigaret smoke although I had requested a non-smoking room. For some reason, the room, as well as the bed, was about 1/3 of the size of the room and bed in Ibis hotel in Amsterdam. The facilities absolutely don't compare to other Ibis hotels. If you have had a good experience with Ibis in some other country, you should know that this particular hotel is to be avoided at all costs.

Stayed at the Norlandia Star for business so wasn't in the room much! The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. Room very small and had a real mass produced feel. Is a very short walk to the attractions (Tivoli, Stroget - pedestrian shopping street) it is in the red light district but it isn't at all threatening.
Is ok if you get a good rate. If you want comfort or space then spend more!!
