Avenue Hotel - Copenhagen, Denmark 

We had a lovely stay at the Avenue Hotel. I will list the positives first: large room, large bathroom, nice LCD tv mounted on the wall, free WIFI internet and breakfast. Negatives are: 20 minute walk to center town, iffy-not-so-good commercial neighborhood, no AC. We were fortunate during our stay last weekend as the hotel owner hosted a catered promotional party to which we were invited. It was quite fun and lavish.

After much deliberation of where to stay in Copenhagen we settled on Avenue Hotel, as it appeared to be charming but modern and offer a special atmosphere. There seemed to be mixed reviews on Trip Advisor and I now see why! We had to check out after one night. One person who stayed there wrote that he really wondered if it was the same hotel that garnered a positive review from another guest who stayed there. Well i am now wondering too.......rooms and hotels outdoor deck area were absolutely nothing as they appeared on the webiste. I was expecting a charming yet modern danish style with polished floorboards and spaciousness-having booked the family room. We were very cramped as a family of four, but for convenience may have stayed the second night we booked if we had not been kept awake all night by the constant busy traffic on the main road outside our bedroom window! Breakfast could have been a lot better quality and not much variety. The staff were understanding when we wanted to check out and cheerfully ordered us a taxi. Copenhagen is a lovely city to visit.
