I love Mainz and the Hilton is perfect for my needs. I am a business traveller to Mainz but I also like to enjoy Mainz at night (restaurants, open air bars, etc.) and this hotel is in a perfect spot for walking around. The staff of this hotel is friendly and very helpful. They have a great little bar in the lobby perfect for a nightcap or happy hour drink to unwind. The rooms are perfect business size rooms but also this hotel had lots of tourists in it the first week of June. Breakfast buffet was very good. One morning the waitress saw me taking a waffle from the buffet and she asked me if I would allow her to make me a new one as that might be 10 minutes old or so.
I like this hotel. If you want a view of the Rhine - stay at the Hyatt. If you want to be in the city, stay here.

Booked a short weekend break in order to burn some Hilton Honors points. I read other peoples reviews that said that it was a bit hidden within city streets and they are certainly right about that. It was a close walk (about 15 minutes) from the central train station and it is a five minute walk to the closest tram stops. Originally, I didn't bother asking where the hotel was when I got off the train hoping to see some signs or indicators, but there were none and I ended up at the Hilton Mainz where they directed me to the Hilton Mainz City.
I stayed in a non smoking room which was not close to the elevators (so I expected a great quiet sleep). The room was clean with typical Hilton white sheets on the bed giving off a nice clean feeling. The bathroom was great, nothing was missing and I enjoyed the shower. One thing that irked me was that the cleaning staff or previous customer left the window open behind the shades, I knew nothing about it and it disturbed me when I heard people talking from the courtyard below. It took me a while until I figured out that the window behind the shade was open. After I shut the window, I found that I could still hear noises coming from the rooms next to me, above me and even in the hallway. That was the only thing I didn't like about the room. I knew that being in the city, the odds of a good view were minimal (my room had absolutely nothing to see out the window. Since it is Germany, I guess I can't really complain about the number of English language television channels that were available.
If I had to go back to Mainz, I don't think that I would stay at this hotel again. The noise that I heard in my room was so annoying, even after I shut the window.
