Valamar Rubin Hotel - Porec, Croatia 

Our week at Hotel Rubin was great. Small room, but extremely comfortable beds and fluffy pillows, and, aircon that worked and was silent. Although we were on half board, only used restaurant once, due to taking over half an hour to order (let alone receive) a bottle of wine and some water and found the food and noise not to our taste. So ate out in Porec. Breakfasts were OK. Temperature was in 30's and humidity around 46%, but with care, were able to keep cool and in the shade. 'Noddy' train runs from hotel into Porec, but was often full. We did find the climb from sea level to the hotel a bit much in the heat (we are not youngsters) so often used taxis from Porec in the evenings, which cost around ?5. Really good trips into Slovenia and Island boat trips were excellent. Give it a go - you'll enjoy.
