The hotel is located opposite the Abbey in the centre of the town however don't expect a sprawling city as you can probably walk around the city centre within 20 minutes. There is plenty of secure parking and the hotel is clean with friendly, efficient staff. The hotel is located within one hour's drive of Cologne, Dusseldorf and Roermond (Holland) so is ideally placed to explore the Dutch/German border. I've stayed in this hotel at least half a dozen times and if you book early enough you can also get a room for less that €75 however if there are any trade fairs on in Dusseldorf then this can easily double. The only negative points are the fact that breakfast costs €15 and a beer costs €5 when a beer in a local pub can be bought for €3. All in all a recommended place to stay and I'm sure I'll be going back again.

We spent three days in this hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and regularly serviced. We ordered and ate one breakfast each, we were charged for two breakfasts each. Despite emailing the Hotel, and Holiday Inn HQ in th UK, Holiday Inn Monchengladbach did not give us even the courtesy of an acknowledgement to our emails, let alone a reply. If you stay at this hotel, check your final bill very, very carefully. Personally, we will never ever stay at Holiday Inn anywhere, ever again.
