Hotel Drei Kronen - Cologne, Germany

stayed in a double room for three nights. it's a sweet, family run, renovated with sixties-touches remaining, hotel in a perfect location (very close to the main station, the dome, the museums, the touristy going-out area) but also very close to the 'real' cologne, it's as if there is an invisible barrier that keeps the loud crowds within an allocated area...! our room was not ready when we arrived, coffee was immediately offered, nothing was too much trouble. if you, like me, like a bath after long hours of sightseeing, you will be disappointed, as far as i could see, all bathrooms had showers, but ask. bathrooms are v small, but the view from huge windows over the rhine made up for that. generous rooms, too. excellent value for money (paid 69 euros/night)

a small,cosy hotel in an excellent location which provides very good value for money.stayed at this hotel for a short break for the christmas markets which were within walking distance.the hotel is situated on the rhine promenade and some of the rooms have great views of the river and surrounding areas.the hotel has an impressive breakfast room and all the staff are polite and most obliging with any requests you may have.connections from the airport are easy,trains run every 20 minutes to cologne station which is next to the cathedral and a couple of minutes walk to the hotel.the fare is 2.30 euros and the journey takes about 20 minutes.eating out is a shear pleasure here with many restaurants in the near vicinity of hotel.
