Hotel Arcaden - Cologne, Germany

I was looking for a cheap holiday using my Eurostar discount and I really didn't want to go to France or Belgium so I paid a little extra and travelled to Cologne. I chose the hotel Arcaden because it was the cheapest hotel with an ensuite bathroom and somewhere near the centre of Cologne. I've got to say I was nervous having stayed in a couple of bad hotels over the past few years and, not knowing Cologne at all, this hotel could have been a horror show but it wasn't. My room was clean, big enough to move around, the shower room was a decent size and clean also. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and the noise from the other rooms was not too bad. The location was excellent, the hotel is opposite a massive shopping centre and there are plenty of bakeries and bars in the local area as well as places to eat. The centre of Cologne is just five minutes away on the U-Bahn [underground tram system]. I would definately recommend this hotel if you are looking for a functional place to stay with no luxuries.
