"Two thumbs up for this 2-star hotel" Posted: Mon, Nov 23 2009

The Prodomo in Cologne is a fantastic hotel option for the budget traveller. The friendly English speaking staff were very helpful during my recent weekend visit for the World Cup and the hotel was very clean and comfortable.
The hotel is a short walk from the train station which takes you directly into the centre of Cologne for 2.20 Euro. There are a couple of small convenience stores nearby, but not much else so taking a map of the city is a must!
Two nights accommodation for £40 also included a buffet breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausages, fruit, pastries and cereal. There is also a limited evening menu of hot snacks, including pizzas for 6 euro, plus there are drinks available at the bar/reception area.
The rooms are basic but comfortable and I rate the pillows very highly! My only comment on the bedding would be that there was no top sheet, only a light duvet which was a bit warm for the Summer nights, but the hotel is very quiet being in a residential area so I had a great sleep. The cleaning staff are very efficient so if you plan on sleeping past 10am make sure you put up your "do not disturb" sign the previous night!
Overall a great hotel which I would definately stay at again if I make the trek back to Cologne. Two thumbs up!
