stayed 3 nights end of october, on main road but thanks to double glazing noise not a problem in our front facing room, room was impeccably clean staff friendly and helpful and a good breakfast. 10 minute walk to weiner platz u ban station and a 10 minute tram ride into the city, if you fly into cologne get the train into cologne 2.10eur and get the u ban out to weiner platz and save yourself the taxi fayre.

Don't go there during air conditioning season

We got there on a Monday and had two air-conditioned rooms confirmed. The rooms they put us in were not air-conditioned. I spoke with the front desk staff (produced my Hotels.com confirmation), and they put us in two other rooms on a lower floor, that were purported to be air-conditioned. Well, they weren't. There may have been air conditioning equipment in the rooms, but it didn't cool the space. I asked the manager about it, and he said that the cooling doesn't come on according to the load, but sensors OUTSIDE the building. I told him I thought that was ridiculous, and asked him to show me the thermostats. He declined, saying that he had other, more important missions. The dismissive air the staff took towards us is enough for me to look elsewhere. This property gets full marks on all the cleanliness, amenities, and so on, and the included buffet breakfast is to die for. The proximity to transport is perfect for anyone thinking about exploring the Nordrhein- Westfalen region, because the K?ln-Mulheim mainline rail station is 8 minutes away (avoiding the necessity of going in to Hbf K?ln). The Gilden Brauhaus (ground floor on the south end) is a "tap" for one of K?ln's better brews. Ask for a K?lsch, which is a brew unique to K?ln. I have had the sauerbraten, which was superb, several times, and Mme. Robespierre reports that the schweinkotelette was magnificent. These dudes can flat cook!

Good business choice

I stayed here for one night during a business trip to Berlin. The staff, as always in German hotels, were very friendly and efficient. The hotel is a good choice for those with business at the Messe, but is quite a bit out of the way for those coming to see old Cologne. Rooms were nice, but the ones facing the busy street could be noisy for some people. I didn't use the sauna facility. Breakfast was good. The hotel also has its own dedicated parking area and prices are reasonable for a 24 hour stay (13 Euro).
