2We got there on a Monday and had two air-conditioned rooms confirmed. The rooms they put us in were not air-conditioned. I spoke with the front desk staff (produced my Hotels.com confirmation), and they put us in two other rooms on a lower floor, that were purported to be air-conditioned.
Well, they weren't. There may have been air conditioning equipment in the rooms, but it didn't cool the space. I asked the manager about it, and he said that the cooling doesn't come on according to the load, but sensors OUTSIDE the building. I told him I thought that was ridiculous, and asked him to show me the thermostats. He declined, saying that he had other, more important missions. The dismissive air the staff took towards us is enough for me to look elsewhere.
This property gets full marks on all the cleanliness, amenities, and so on, and the included buffet breakfast is to die for. The proximity to transport is perfect for anyone thinking about exploring the Nordrhein- Westfalen region, because the K?ln-Mulheim mainline rail station is 8 minutes away (avoiding the necessity of going in to Hbf K?ln).
The Gilden Brauhaus (ground floor on the south end) is a "tap" for one of K?ln's better brews. Ask for a K?lsch, which is a brew unique to K?ln. I have had the sauerbraten, which was superb, several times, and Mme. Robespierre reports that the schweinkotelette was magnificent. These dudes can flat cook!
