Katerina Hotel - Athens, Greece 

Just returned from staying in this excellent Hotel. As soon as you walk in the lobby you can feel the friendliness of the staff & no problem viewing the room before committing to stay. Room was clean & fresh, linen changed daily, comfy beds, internet access in room (1st floor only I think). Great shower & bathroom. I really could not fault the Hotel Katerina. The cleanliness was excellent & everything in the room worked as it should. All staff were friendly & nothing was too much trouble for them. The buffet breakfast included in the room price was excellent & served in the breakfast room which is nicely decorated & a pleasant place to start the day. The decoration in the lobby & sitting area is pleasant with some nice pictures & paintings to make a comfortable sitting area for a coffee. The Hotel is just off a busy square so traffic noise could be a problem in summer months but most Hotels would suffer traffic noise anyway. This Hotel for me was great, felt totally safe here & it was so easy to get around by taxi or metro and just a couple of stops from Athens centre.

We were sent to the Katerina after an overbooking at a different hotel, the staff at the katerina were aware of this and even though we arrived at 10am they looked after our bags and asked if we would like to have breakfast. The location is ok, it's not the nicest area to stay, but it is definately ok, lot's of local restaurants nearby, it is very close to the Metaxourghio Metro station, so very easy to get around from. There are 2 lifts, and a nice breakfast room on the 1st floor, the breakfast was excellent. The rooms were ok a bit on the small side, some have balconies. There was also a fridge, and cable tv. the bathroom was good, a fantastic shower, hairdryer. The hotel is a basic 3 star hotel, but the staff were really good, overall a pleasant experience.
