Kempinski Hotel Gravenbruch Frankfurt - Frankfurt/Main, Germany     

I stayed here with my wife for three nights at the end of November 2007. We had an excellent weekend. Hotel was first class and service we received was generally excellent. I attended a business conference in the hotel on the Friday. Conference facilities excellent. We then stayed over the weekend. My wife used the pool and spa facilities and was very impressed. We used the hotel shuttle-bus to the airport - no problems. We visited Frankfurt city centre on a number of occasions. The Christmas market at this time of year really is something to see ! We attended a show at the English Theatre on Saturday evening. Please be aware that the hotel is about 20 minutes taxi ride from down-town Frankfurt. 20 to 25 Euros taxi fare each way. This soon adds up over a weekend. We were unable to pay for our taxis at reception and have the cost added to our room bill. Cash was required to pay the driver. I recommend that the hotel look at this. I also recommend to them that they extend their shuttle-bus service to the city-centre. This would encourage more tourist visitors at week-ends. Over-all, we really enjoyed our stay and will return sometime.

We returned again this year for the Bookfair. This time we were collected from the airport by the hotel car. Check in was quick and our rooms were the same we had last year. The whole stay of 4 nights was a delight. The staff were friendly and efficient. When we could not get a taxi back from the Messe they sent one to collect us. My colleague arrived at the hotel at 5-am, they collected him from the airport and his room was immediately available. I cannot understand some of the previous adverse comments and wonder if they actually stayed at this hotel. I travel a great deal on business and this is one of the most comfortable hotels I have stayed at. It is not colour co-ordinated or themed. It had its own character and is not a soulless box like most US hotels. Frankfurt however has changed now that they have so many fairs and events, not one of the restaurants close to the Messe will accept a booking for two people .
