Stayed here for a weekend away, 6 of us altogether. Good location, just at the back of Princes Street, so good for shopping but all the good pubs seem to be on the far side of town so we had to get taxis every night. Rooms are big enough, although the halls are quite pokey and claustrophobic. Breakfast is left in the room, cereal, tea/coffee and a piece of fruit. Reception staff ok, they'd answer you if you asked them a question but you really had to nudge them. There are plenty of leaflets at reception for tours etc. so that was quite helpful. Check in was relatively easy but rooms weren't ready until 3pm which is quite late for a small hotel, we left our bags in a communal, cob web filled, dusty, smelly room which wasn't secure as anyone could have been in going through bags. AVOID at all costs the bar on the side of the hotel as about 3 of us were short changed on more than one occasion and it is quite dirty and smelly, we just had a drink while we were waiting on others to get ready.

Myself and 4 other girls spent one night in the Hanover Hotel on the 23rd Feb 2008. We were travelling to Edinburgh to meet 2 other girlfriend who recomended this hotel as it's very central. On booking we requested adjoining rooms, I called the week before we were due to arrive to make sure we could get them but were told there was no guarantee so I emailed them and everything was sorted. The rooms were alot better that I expected and quite modern. We had 2 twins with an adjoining door. We were told on booking that there was no breakfast so it wasnt an issue. There is a coffee shop and an american diner across the street where we ate. This hotel was adequate and I would return here although I dont know if I would bring my son who is 4. It has a great location for the Castle, shops, pubs etc. Rooms are clean, tidy and the staff were pleasant. I think it was a bargin at ?70 per room.
