Location

It is situated in beautiful Annandale, just a mile from Gretna Green with its famous wedding centre. Although part of Dumfries and Galloway in South-West Scotland, the hotel remains easily accessible from the motorway. The Days Inn Gretna Green is the ideal base for exploring the beautiful Lake District and the Scottish Borders. Nearby, there is an array of interesting shops, museums and markets to visit. In little under an hour you will find yourself in the heart of all England, Hexham, a traditional market town which was home to Hadrian and the Roman Empire. The Lake District is a pleasant day trip away, with excursions possible by cruise boat and steam train. The Scottish Borders country towns of Jedburgh and Melrose are close by with Glasgow and Edinburgh about an hour away, making it a surprisingly convenient sightseeing and shopping trip not to be missed.

we have just returned from our friends wedding at gretna green what a great time. we chose the days inn because of its location and were not dissapointed. the ceremony was at anvil hall which was 5 minutes away and the wedding reception was about 10 mins in a taxi at a place called longtown.it cost us ?12 for an eight seater mini bus, just ask reception for elaines taxis. the staff were very friendly and the rooms were really clean and spacious,we had a king size bed and a double sofa bed just for the two of us. unlike a lot of hotels i have stopped in everything in the room worked from the sky tv to the heated towel rail. this is a perfect base with which to explore the borders region. the only thing stopping this hotel from being excellant is breakfast, there is only continental breakfast available we did not try this and had a breakfast at the services next door which cost ?20 for two breakfasts and a coffee. the next morning we went in to longtown to the sycamore tree for a really nice breakfast cooked fresh and delightful staff for ?10 very good value and a really nice venue.

I have found the Days Inn to be a convenient place to stop over night when travelling from my home in Scotland to English destinations. It is clean and relatively cheap (?50 pn for two of us) - particularly if you book thro the the daysinn.co.uk website. We eat at one or other of the hotels in the Gretna area because this hotel is actually at the northbound motorway services and has no restaurant of its own so the usual motorway prices prevail if you eat here! The current favoured place for us to eat being the Hazeldene Hotel in Gretna. The rooms seem to have been refurbished and certainly beat some of the rather well used Premier Lodge and Travelodge places. Clean, comfortable bed and satisfactory shower so good enough when travelling.
