The Palm Court Hotel - Eastbourne, United Kingdom 

I am a pensioner who is registered blind, but physically able and have all my faculties. When staying at this hotel, for a high premium, over the Christmas period, I found the staff unhelpful and obstructive. I had to ask three times to be shown to my room, even though I clearly told them the room number and floor. Finally when I reached the room, I asked the porter to show me where the light switches for the bedroom and the bathroom were, he refused, when I complained to the manager she dismissively explained that it was not part of the service, and that if I wasn't happy with the service I could pack my bags and go home, which two days before Christmas without access to transport is difficult to achieve. After a fellow diner offered me a piece of meat (from a meal he did not want to finish) for my guide dog, I was instructed (in a way that made me feel like I was being chastised) not to take food up to my room. An unfriendly, unhelpful place, don't go there, they do not have the first idea about customer service.

The Hotel is perfectly situated and is very close to the beach. the seafront is lovely and flat and ideal for long walks. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The staff were excellent and all very welcoming, particularly to the older guests. The food was superb, something for everyone and was delivered to the table with care and was nice and hot. Eastbourne has something for everyone, theatres, shopping and a lovely beach. Would definately stay at the Hotel again.
