Location

City Centre, Shopping Centre, Near Train Station, University, Near Subway, Old Town

The neighbourhood of your home in Berlin features buildings by well-known architects of our era, such as Aldo Rossi, Peter Eisenman, Matthias Sauerbruch, Prof. Josef Kleihues, Philipp Johnson and many more. The surrounding area has partially been the back strip of the Berlin-Wall which can hardly been recognized today.

The main points of interest are Checkpoint Charlie itself, the Berlin Wall Museum and the shopping street Friedrichstrasse round the corner, The famous Potsdamer Platz, Martin-Gropius-Bau and 'Topography of Terror' are a little walk - stroll northwards along Friedrichstrasse to reach the famous avenue 'Unter den Linden - up one side and down the other gives you about a mile of non-stop window-shopping.

In this area, the Berlin Public Transport network is densely woven: The central underground line 1 which takes you to Berlin’s western centre, and in the other direction to Friedrichshain/Kreuzberg, is a stone’s throw away. Line 2 leads to Station Zoologischer Garten one way and the other way through Berlin-Mitte to Prenzlauer Berg.

At daytime the small street buzzes with people from the close-by offices and tourists from all over the world. Elegant shops in the vicinity do full justice to Berlin-Mitte, one of our capital’s smartest areas. Parallel to Charlottenstrasse runs Friedrichstrasse with all its dazzling array of luxury shops and department stores (e.g. the famous Lafayette department store).

At night-time, this central living area is calm, quiet and safe; perfect for a restful sleep after a busy, action-packed day.

Not far away there is a Spar, Penny, Plus, Lidl Supermarket and the Axel-Springer-Passage, a newly built shopping centre with some good restaurants, shops and a healthcare centre close to the big publishing house Axel Springer.

Dining

A great spot to get to know a part of German cuisine is the small restaurant "Maultäschle" right next door. They serve delicious delicacies from the south-west of Germany, particularly home-made "Maultaschen" - pasta pockets filled with meats and vegetables - in a variety of different flavours along with select German wine. Absolutely recommendable!

An excellent location for fine dining, the well-renowned French restaurant "Entrecôte", is located around the corner (Schützenstrasse 5).
