Ibis Berlin Potsdamer Platz - Berlin, Germany     

This is an excellently located hotel for a city break, just 5 minutes walk from Checkpoint Charlie, and many other points of interest. It was less than 5 minutes walk to the rail station, and about 10 minutes to the nearest underground station. The hotel was comfortable, with pleasant rooms (the only disadvantage was that the shower door design meant that the bathroom floor got flooded !). Breakfast was a good buffet. We ate in the hotel restaurant one night, and had a pleasant, good value meal. There was free internet access in the lobby. The reception staff were helpful. Overall, this was a ideal hotel for an enjoyable and interesting city break.

Having previously stayed in the Ibis Zaragoza which had HUGE rooms, I was slightly disappointed by the size of the room in this hotel; but then again I wasn't in Berlin to spend my days in a hotel room. The room was basic Ibis - comfy, clean, with a great shower. Needed extra pillows though and the reception only had one, about which they were very apologetic. Didn't have breakfast so cannot comment, but I did eat dinner in the hotel and it was tasty and filling. The only negative was the reception assistant at check-in (Heike): she was quite abrupt almost to the point of rudeness and I was not particularly taken by that attitude. All the other staff, however, were very pleasant.
