Angleterre Hotel address: Friedrichstrasse 31, Berlin, 10969

Angleterre Hotel details: This English-style hotel is located in the historical centre of the city on Friedrichstrasse, close to Checkpoint Charlie and Gendarmenmarkt.

Owing to its easily accessible location close to an underground station, it represents the ideal base from which to discover and experience Berlin. Numerous sights such as the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag and Potsdamer Platz lie within the hotel’s immediate vicinity.

Displaying an English style with warm colours, gleaming candlesticks, large mirrors and wood furnishings, the hotel captivates with its elegance. The inviting façade of the palace building was constructed in 1889. Marvel at the painstakingly restored murals and stucco details, which are over 100 years old.

We spent three pleasant nights at the Angleterre. The hotel is about a block or two from the old Checkpoint Charlie. It is a fairly long walk to "Unter den Linden"; but my wife and I like to walk and had no problem covering this distance at least three times. The hotel appears to reside in a building that actually survived WWII, but has been renovated such that it looks nice on the outside and is clean and modern on the inside. The room was about the size of an average U.S. hotel room, and was clean. The bathroom was modern and looked brand new. The service at the front desk was friendly and helpful. We would not hesitate to book our next Berlin stay in this hotel.

We spent three nights at the Hotel Angleterre; our arrival was greatly delayed by a late arriving aircraft. despite the late hour the staff were charming and efficient and this set the tone for the remainder of our stay. The room was large and very comfortable with an immaculate bathroom. the only item that we would have welcomed would have been tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast was generous and well presented. The staff were efficient, charming and always happy to help. The position of the hotel in Frederich Strasse made movement about the city very easy being close to the U Bahn and the busses and not far from the S bahn. This visit was for us a trip down memory lane as we had both lived in berlin previously, my wife as a young girl and me as a young officer when the wall was erected. I have no hesitation in recommending the Hotel Angleterre to anyone.
