Went to Oporto on a 3 day get away, and booked this hotel directly. The hotel is a modern business hotel, beutiful lobby, very nice bar, small shopping area to hotel next door. Hotel personel is very good, there are all multi lingual, this help since my portuguese is not very good. This hotel is not on porto center, you usually need a 4 minute taxi cab (4euros) to the nearest metro station ( Joao de Deus), city center is just 4 stations away. Hotel has a shuttle to metro station that goes every 2 hours. Airport is almost 40 minutes away by metro, but metro service is extremly good, clean and convinient. Aparently there was a congress of something in Oporto during those days, so i was upgrated to a suite! Room was great, bed was very good, and the shower was perfect. Overall this is a great new and modern hotel, the best thing of it all was the 70 euros rate! You just dont see that anymore around europe, for this quality of hotel.

Part of the Sol Melia Group, this relatively new concrete block with not particularly inventive and conservative interior design is located north of the river in the suburb of Gaia. Our room was spacious but had some raster nasty looking stains on the carpet. Breakfast buffet was very good, bar staff was helpful. We were unfortunate to get a smokers room and apparently we weren't able to get a different room due to the lateness of our booking and the lack of rooms we could change into. Price was good, though reception staff was not particularly helpful, unsmiling and not very welcoming. All in all you get what you pay for.
