Well-known for its mild climate, Montreux offers an enchanting scenery on the Lake Geneva's shores, where palm trees give to the landscape a Southern accent.

Window and symbol of Montreux throughout the world, the Montreux Jazz Festival welcomes the greatest music artists at the beginning of July. Festival founder Claude Nobs created an event which became one of the most important festivals of all, with a unique and eclectic musical reputation. Every year, up to 220'000 visitors come to Montreux in order to attend the Festival concerts split in the three concerts halls. The visitors can also enjoy the numerous free performances: acoustic concerts, the Voice, The Guitar and the Piano Solo Competitions, the Workshops, etc. For the night-birds, they can choose between acoustic concerts and unexpected jam sessions at the Montreux Jazz Club or at an original club called the Montreux Jazz Café where international Dj's enlighten the place until dawn.

In December, two very appreciated events take place in Montreux: come to stroll at the Christmas Market and to laugh at the comic festival called «Festival du Rire» !

Already spoiled by the amazing environment, the nature lovers will be able to climb to the Rochers-de-Naye (2'024 meters) where the view over Lake Geneva and the surrounding Alps is spectacular. The cog train takes you from the lakeside palm trees to mountain’s edelweiss blooms in less than one hour. Visitors can benefit from one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Switzerland. There are many activities on offer around the Rochers-de-Naye for groups and individuals alike: explore "Marmot Paradise" or wander through the "Rambertia" alpine garden.

Most famous fortress and most beautiful historical buildings in Switzerland, the Chillon Castle is located at 1 km from the Minotel Bristol. It was built in the 13th century over foundations that were even older. The castle is by the lake at the foot of a hill, and the attraction is therefore twofold has a double interest: it is a lakeside fortress on one side and a royal residence on the other.
