After reading the reviews on here i was a little wary about booking the Red Lion. However, we wanted somewhere central, where we could walk and have a few drinks and grab some food. All other hotels seemed to far out of Basingstoke for this. After calling the Red Lion they said they had their Lion Suite available. This had leather couch, double shower, jacuzzi bath etc... very spacious room. I must admit, that the bath and shower were not the best i've had, but definately better than most. I would advise if staying at the Red Lion to try and book their Lion Suite. Could do with mini bar fridge, even just to keep our own drinks in. Hotel is very central, with ample parking.

I stayed in this hotel for a week while in Basingstoke on business. Overall this isn't a bad hotel. It is centrally located and has plenty of parking. The room service was good and the hotel had wifi which was useful for work. The only downside was that I was allocated a tiny single room. It felt a little tired and dated but at the end of the day it was clean and comfortable so not a huge issue.
