Mabre Residence - Vilnius, Lithuania 

We booked a February trip to Lithuania through Baltic Holidays in the UK who offered us this hotel in Vilnius for a two night stay. It is a fairly newly converted hotel - converted from a monastry. I am unsure how many rooms there are, as the rooms are in separate blocks around a courtyard - where there is an (expensive) restaurant, a gym and conference rooms, and car parking. The staff are a bit aloof, but that's partly the Lithuanian way - get used to it! The room we had was huge, well fitted out and comfortable, with opening windows, air con, and an electric heater. The shower flooded to bathroom floor, running into the main room - until we got the hang of the shower screen! There are tea and coffee making facilites in the room. There is still conversion work going on out the back, which starts up at about 7:30 am - hmmm not good! The location is excellent, very conveniently situated on the edge of the old town, and a short walk through safe streets to a wide selection of restuarants and bars.

Went for a football match and stayed here for 2 nights along with a group of others who had stayed here before and liked it so much they booked it again. The rooms were spotless and well set out with a great skylight view towards the nearby church from our room. Very quiet area with a large central courtyard within the hotel grounds and a lovely bar/restaurant. The old town was a 5 min walk away and very charming with some good bars, cafes and restaurants on the cobbled streets. I believe there was a fitness room and other things within the hotel but my stay was pretty hectic and travelling between Vilnius and Kaunus so wasn't really there much except to change and sleep. Would go back there for sure although I would imagine there are better priced places nearby but I didn't book this as it was part of a package arranged by a friend so dont know how much it cost us just for the hotel. Would certainly recommend it though and if the price was good would stay there again without a doubt.
