Sheraton Genova Hotel - Genoa, Italy     

The Sheraton Genoa is generally a good quality business-class hotel that offers a full range of amenities. The staff were friendly and helpful, but I found the hotel a little gloomy with lots of dark wood panelling and furnishing. Personally, I thought the restaurant looked dark and uninviting and the menu was quite limited. They should have a cafe offering lighter snack meals. The breakfast room was somewhat bland but was a decent spread. The bedroom was a good size (again, quite gloomy and with a dated marble bathroom). Overall, although comfortable, I did feel that the hotel should have offered slightly more for its price and Sheraton-branding. As others noted, the hotel is a fair distance from the city centre but its easy to get the airport shuttle bus (every hour, ?4 and you can use the same ticket across the city's transport system - great value) or the hotel's own courtesy bus (every 60-90 mins but shorter hours and needs advance booking, so not that convenient). Genoa itself is a typically chaotic port city that is being transformed and was a good city break location.
